How to Calculate Inverter Size

Step 1: Add up the wattage of all appliances you want to run during a power cut.

Step 2: Divide by 0.8 (inverter efficiency) to get the minimum VA rating.

Step 3: For battery: (Total Watts × Backup Hours) ÷ (12V × 0.7 efficiency) = Ah needed.
